For patient safety, easier and more accurate billing, simpler exchange of data, legal protection for medical practitioners and lower medical costs, the conversion of medical records to electronic format has been a goal of the medical industry for many years.* The sheer number of incompatible systems favored byhospitals, doctors, transcription companies and other desired record recipients has presented a major obstacle that has stood in the way of achieving this goal.
With records available in standardized XML format (the format of pages on the web), ScriptFlow's records are accessible from individuals located anywhere in the world. ScriptFlow's configurable data exchange system facilitates transfer of data between the many diverse systems present in the Healthcare industry. Yet ScriptFlow's inbuilt data encryption and controllable record access provides the security required to achieve full HIPAA-compliancy.
ScriptFlow™ captures written or spoken input from medical practitioners into pre-designed or customized templates and routes the completed records to designated recipients inside the practice or beyond (to, for example, EMR packages, other practitioners, medical transcribers or hospitals as desired). The software is divided into two standard program modules, EntelliFlow and the ScriptFlow Client, to simplify installation and operation. These modules may be augmented with optional program modules, ScriptFlow Pocket Client and/or ScriptFlow Exchange, to precisely tailor the solution to the specific needs of the user.
The heart of ScriptFlow operation is EntelliFlow, the intelligent workflow engine developed by Entellica. This module is responsible for storing and routing records between each designated member in the workflow pipeline. EntelliFlow allows users to define the path and set up the guidelines that govern information routing. Use of a standard web browser interface for EntelliFlow enables the software and the records it controls to be accessed from any web-accessible computer, on or off-site.
The ScriptFlow Client module captures dictation into pre-designed templates that come with the system or customized templates designed by users. Templates are available in standard HTML or Microsoft Word format and may be filled from desktops, laptops, tablet PCs, SmartPhones or mobile devices. Blanks templates may be completed via written, checked or verbal input and then routed onto other designated members of the workflow pipeline. ScriptFlow places no limits on dictation length nor the number of users able to work on documents moving in the pipeline. The length of any dictation session is limited only by the disk space remaining on the client computer.
Each successive member in the designated workflow pipeline receives completed records in their in-boxes inside their own copy of ScriptFlow. If desired, additional documents (e.g., patient X-Rays) may be attached to the transmitted records. All transmissions are encrypted for security. ScriptFlow is fully HIPAA-compliant satisfying all provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
The ScriptFlow Client is 100% compatible with Dragon Naturally Speaking. If desired, audio input may be translated to text immediately during dictation or transcriptionists may use Dragon at their stations for back-end speech-to-text conversion.
The ScriptFlow Client includes features that support workflow collaboration. Routing may be changed on the fly. Statistics are tracked on work in process and work completed. All completed records are archived in the EntelliFlow database. Any archived record may be retrieved by any individual who possesses the assigned privileges to do so.
ScriptFlow™ Pocket Client
ScriptFlow™ Pocket Client extends the ScriptFlow pipeline beyond the limits imposed by fixed wiring (to areas such as bedsides for medical charting or remote offices for client interviews). Pocket Client enables users to access blank or existing templates for review or dictation by means of a PocketPC or SmartPhones that are based on the Windows Mobile Operating System and that also possess a PDA-like display (such as the Siemens SX 66, Sprint PCS Vision Smart Device PPC-6600 or HP H6315).
At the start of dictation, the user connects to ScriptFlow™ and selects the appropriate template for data entry. Templates are pre-formatted for optimum display on the specific mobile device. Document authors enter spoken data by pointing at the appropriate field with a stylus and speaking. Data may also be entered into the template by means of PocketPC or SmartPhone keyboard input, check boxes, voice or by handwriting (e.g., for digital signatures). Upon completion of the session, the completed encrypted record is routed to the next point in the workflow pipeline.
If a link to other back office systems is required for, for instance, pre-populating template fields with client information from the billing system, an optional ScriptFlow Exchange module may be integrated to move records between ScriptFlow and existing systems.
ScriptFlow links wired and wireless users throughout the office or around the world in an efficient and secure workflow pipeline that is easy to implement, effortless to use, and scalable to offices of any size. For more information on ScriptFlow, contact us today!
